Just a Vacation

Share

I am one of Jerry Hulse’s more loyal supporters and have admired the quality of his work in the Los Angeles Times. I was relieved to learn that what I thought for several weeks as a departure was merely a vacation.

I stayed in one of the lovely cottages in the Cotswolds obtained by one of your correspondents, Margaret Livingstone, who in turn has complimented me on some of the suggestions I have sent to her, including photos, and through these communications we have become great friends.

As a result of a marvelous trip to Paris in June I would suggest a truly economical and excellent tour company. It is Time-off Tours, 28 Chester Close, Chester Street, London SW1. Here again is another do-it-yourself tour, with all essentials taken care of by that company, which, since I cannot drive, makes it possible for me to see all the wonders of Europe in the most leisurely and satisfying way. Six days of full amenities for 205 (about $304).

Also, referring to Jerry’s column of Aug. 31, I see mention of a B&B; called Chimneys near Crawley with an address of Field Wood. I have stayed at this excellent accommodation three times and each time was impressed with the house and lovely person who runs it. The address is Ifield (pronounced “eye-field”). The hostess, Ms. Setchfield, includes pickup and delivery from Gatwick Airport, which is not more than 15 minutes from her home. She is an excellent cook.

Thanks to Jerry for giving others like me the benefit of his knowledge. It is greatly appreciated and looked forward to every Sunday morning. He makes my day.
