An elderly Northridge woman was struck by a car and killed late Saturday as she crossed a street near her home, Los Angeles police said.
Alice Shreve, 87, was crossing Reseda Boulevard at Citronia Street about 9 p.m. when she was hit by a car driven by Dana Weber, 23, of Northridge, Officer Volker Wendlenner said.
Shreve was pronounced dead shortly before 11 p.m. at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Wendlenner said.
He said tire skid marks indicated that Weber attempted to avoid hitting Shreve, but police may still seek charges of misdemeanor manslaughter against her.
