Bomb Scare Empties Anne Frank Museum
Associated Press
AMSTERDAM — A bomb scare forced a two-hour evacuation of the Anne Frank House today as former Soviet dissident Anatoly Shcharansky was due to visit the museum, police said.
A Dutch army bomb disposal unit removed a vacuum cleaner bag found in a wastebasket at the museum but there was only refuse inside. Police said they had not received any threats in connection with the freed Jewish dissident’s visit. Shcharansky entered the museum shortly after the alert was lifted.
