A San Diego County Superior Court judge Monday postponed a hearing on a request to move the trial of San Diego City Councilman Uvaldo Martinez to another county.

Judge Barbara Gamer rescheduled the hearing for Wednesday.

Defense attorney Raymond J. Coughlan and Deputy Dist. Atty. Allan J. Preckel reportedly conducted plea-bargain discussions in the case last week, but both lawyers have refused to comment on the reports. Deputy Dist. Atty. Thomas McArdle said Monday that he expected that the hearing on transferring the trial would take place as scheduled on Wednesday.

Martinez is accused of 24 felony counts of misappropriating and falsely accounting for public funds by using a city credit card to purchase $1,840 worth of meals and drinks on 20 occasions between November, 1984, and June, 1985.
