Westinghouse Electric Corp. and Space Industries Co. announced a partnership to design and build a $250-million permanently orbiting space facility on which scientists could conduct research. Several space shuttle flights will be required to launch the station, with launch scheduled for 1990. The Industrial Space Facility, a 2,500-cubic-foot space “cabin,” will provide an essentially gravity-free environment for experimentation, company representatives said in Washington.
