The head of the Los Angeles Police Department Devonshire Division has retired to become chief investigator of the California State Bar.
Capt. Albert M. Fried, 50, of La Crescenta retired on Sept. 15 to take the new post, in which he will be responsible for investigating attorneys accused of wrongdoing.
Fried, who ran traffic operations during the 1984 Olympics, earlier commanded the Valley Traffic Division. He launched the department’s sobriety checkpoints last year in an effort to arrest drunk drivers.
