Aaron Cohen, a longtime National Aeronautics and Space Administration executive, has been named to succeed Jesse Moore as director of the Johnson Space Center, the space agency announced Thursday.

Moore, who was the space shuttle program director at the time of the Challenger accident, resigned the position and will be reassigned at his own request to a job created for him at NASA’s headquarters, agency officials said.
