Poisonous Gas Leak That Hurt 15 Plugged in Texas
A poisonous gas leak that temporarily forced at least 1,000 people from their homes was plugged Saturday when emergency workers capped an old oil or gas well that had been spewing hydrogen sulfide, authorities said.
One man was hospitalized and in stable condition, said Vicky Thomas, nursing manager at Medical Center Hospital. Fourteen others, most complaining of burning eyes, were treated and released.
The emergency occurred when a crew working on the well Friday ruptured a rusty pipe, officials said.
