Boeing Co. machinists approved a three-year contract that provides cost-of-living raises and lump-sum bonus payments to about 40,000 employees in three states, a union spokesman said. Richard Aldrich, machinists union business representative in Wichita, Kan., declined to give specific numbers but said 88% of the machinists had voted to ratify the contract. Boeing machinists in Seattle, Wash.; Wichita, Kan., and Portland, Ore., voted on the company offer, which provides a 40-cent-an-hour cost-of-living allowance that will be rolled into the general wage scale.
