BENACKOVA TO SING DESDEMONA SUNDAY

Gabriela Benackova will sing the role of Desdemona at the final performance of Los Angeles Music Center Opera’s production of “Otello” Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

The Czech soprano, who is replacing the ailing Daniela Dessi, was released from a rehearsal commitment at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where she will sing the title role in a new production of “Jenufa” next month.
