An infant died during surgery to correct an abdominal infection, less than two weeks after undergoing a successful heart transplant operation at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Leonard Bailey said Trevor Reed, who was born with hypoplastic heart disease and received a new heart Sept. 27., had been progressing normally until he developed the infection.
