DAYS OF ROCK PAST

Share

The reason L.A. radio has gone “ ‘60s crazy” (aside from the general nostalgia boom) is that most of today’s rock is dreadful (Pop Eye, “Rock Radio: Back to the Future,” by Patrick Goldstein, Oct. 5).

I know I sound like most parents 20 years ago, but even my parents listened to then-current rock. Most (not all) of today’s groups lack the poetic lyric, catchy melodies, harmonies and arrangements, and either a political message or innocent romance of groups like the Beatles, Beach Boys, Doors, Mamas & Papas, Simon & Garfunkel and anything from Motown.

Not to worry: We made it through disco; this too shall pass.
