Two Hell’s Angels, including one who ran in the Olympic Torch Relay, have been indicted by a federal grand jury for paying an FBI informant to kill a prison inmate, authorities said. The indictment, which was handed down Friday, charged George Christie Jr., 39, Oak Park, president of the Ventura Hell’s Angels chapter, and Daniel J. Fabricant, 37, with conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation of a violent crime. They are scheduled for arraignment Oct. 20, according to Assistant U.S. Atty. Stephen Czuleger. The indictment said both men hired FBI informant Michael Mulhern to arrange for the murder of Thomas Arthur Chaney. Chaney, described as an associate of the Hell’s Angels, is serving time in the federal prison at Safford, Ariz., for threatening a federal witness. Chaney was not harmed, the indictment said, but Christie paid Mulhern $500 and gave him the registration to a car, thinking that the murder had been carried out.
