Reagan Skips His Radio Address

WASHINGTON — Concentrating on his meeting in Reykjavik with Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev, President Reagan suspended his regular series of Saturday radio talks for only the second time since he initiated them on April 3, 1982.
The only previous interruption came after Reagan finished delivering his original series of 10, five-minute Saturday talks on June 5, 1982. On the following Aug. 28, he revived the series, and he continued it without missing a broadcast until Saturday, sometimes prerecording talks when he traveled.
Saturday’s missing speech will be replaced, however, by a broadcast report on the Iceland meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. PDT Monday.
