Irvine : UCI’s Chancellor’s Club Appoints New President

The new president of the UC Irvine Chancellor’s Club is Marion Buie, vice president of Sotheby’s International Realty in Newport Beach.

The Chancellor’s Club is an organization in the Orange County community that works to improve the university. Buie has been vice president of membership since 1984.

Campus spokeswoman Cynthia Morris said that “under his (Buie’s) leadership, the Chancellor’s Club more than doubled to include more than 300 members who contribute $1,000 each year in unrestricted support to UCI.”

Said UCI Chancellor Jack W. Peltason: “The success of the Chancellor’s Club indicates a strong link between the university and the community. Its members provide a major catalyst for UCI’s continued growth and academic excellence through their financial support and participation in campus events.”

In addition to Buie, UCI announced that three other new officers have been appointed for the 1986-87 academic year. Thomas Tierney, president of Vita Tech International in Santa Ana, is the new chairman of the Daniel G. Aldrich Jr. Society, which is composed of Chancellor’s Club members who contribute $2,500 or more annually to the club.

Richard G. Sim, president of the Irvine Office and Industrial Co., is vice president of membership, and Louise Arnold, president of Turner Associates Realtors in Laguna Beach, is the club’s vice president of programs.
