But every frame of this opulent film was designed to take advantage of the wide-screen, 70mm Technirama process, and the 4:3 format of the television screen spoils many of the carefully composed images. In the climactic battle between Prince Philip and the dragon--one of the most dramatic sequences ever drawn--the dragon’s body has been almost entirely cropped out of the frame.
