A 14-year-old boy in Newton, Iowa, was ordered to stand trial in the death of a schoolmate who collapsed during a school scuffle that allegedly dislodged a plastic valve in his heart. Jasper County Circuit Judge Thomas Mott scheduled the trial for Nov. 24 and ordered Jody Collins to remain in a juvenile detention facility indefinitely. Collins is charged as a juvenile with involuntary manslaughter and assault in the Sept. 26 death of Justin Cupples. If convicted, he could be confined until his 18th birthday.
