Boise Cascade posted a 34% decline in its third-quarter net income. The company attributed the lower results to the effects of an 11-week strike at its Rumford, Me., pulp and paper mill. Chairman John Fery said the Maine strike, which ended with a settlement in mid-September, cost the company $30 million before taxes. The Boise, Ida.-based wood products company said its profit for the quarter fell to about $13.3 million.
