EX-DISNEYLAND REVUE STAR HEADLINES COMEDY NIGHT

Share

Comedian Dick Hardwick, who starred in Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe Revue that closed last weekend, will headline the Comedy Night at Cal State Fullerton tonight.

Hardwick portrayed vaudeville comic Pecos Bill in the fast-paced show that combined singing, dancing and comedy, and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for “the greatest number of performances of any theatrical production.” The amusement park has ended the revue after a 31-year run. A new production, as yet untitled, will open Nov. 1.

But the closing has not left Hardwick unemployed. He performs regularly at Crackers in Anaheim and has worked at such comedy clubs as the Laff Stop in Newport Beach and the Improv in Hollywood. A multi-instrumentalist, Hardwick also plays drums in the Beverly Hills Unlisted Jazz Band, and in that capacity appeared briefly in the recent Jackie Gleason film “Nothing in Common.”

He often incorporates drums and other instruments into his stand-up act, which he’ll do at tonight’s shows at Cal State Fullerton.

The school’s Comedy Night, with shows at 8 and 10:30, will also include comics Butch Fisco and Sam Kutz. The campus is at 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton.
