Developer and arts patron Henry T. Segerstrom has been named to the board of directors of Silicon Systems Inc. as has the company’s new president, Steven E. Cooper.

Segerstrom is managing partner of C.J. Segerstrom & Sons, a Costa Mesa real estate development and management firm whose properties include the South Coast Plaza and South Coast Village shopping centers and the South Coast Plaza Town Center office complex.

He has served as chairman of the Orange County Performing Arts Center’s board of trustees since 1980, is a trustee of Los Angeles’ Museum of Contemporary Art and is on the boards of directors of the National Business Committee for the Arts and the Orange County Business Committee for the Arts.

Segerstrom also serves as a director of Southern California Edison Co., Security Pacific Corp. and Safeco Corp.

Joined Firm in 1980

Cooper, who was named Silicon Systems’ president and chief operating officer in June, joined the Tustin-based semiconductor firm in 1980. Previously, he had been an engineer and manager at Intel Corp. in Santa Clara.

The two new trustees replace William H. Roberts, an outside director since 1983, who has resigned from the board to move to France, and William Drobish, an outside director who resigned in late 1985.

Although the election of Cooper and the resignation of Roberts become effective immediately, Segerstrom will not begin his term until January.

The company has been operating with only eight directors since Drobish resigned. The new appointments returns to nine the complement of directors on Silicon Systems’ board, a company spokesman said.
