A reporter for Colombia’s leading newspaper was ordered expelled from the United States because officials believed she would “engage in subversive activities” while visiting, federal authorities said. The government of Colombia demanded that journalist Patricia Lara, 35, be placed in the custody of its consulate in New York, but the State Department denied the request. Lara, a reporter for El Tiempo, was arrested after arriving at Kennedy International Airport Sunday to attend an awards presentation for Latin American journalists at Columbia University.
