Gorbachev to Visit India Next Month, Prime Minister Says
Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev will visit India next month to strengthen relations between the two countries, Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi said Friday.
Speaking at a news conference during his two-day visit to New Zealand, Gandhi said the visit is not aimed at buying arms but at improving economic relations and achieving better understanding between the two countries.
“We are looking for a much stronger relationship with the U.S.S.R., but that does not affect our relations with any other country.
“We have spent the last year and a half improving our relations with the United States.”
