China’s Guan Ping set a world record...

China’s Guan Ping set a world record of 44 minutes 42.2 seconds in the women’s 10,000-meter walk, her second mark in two days, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

Competing in the Chinese National walk tournament in the northeastern city of Qingdao, she was followed closely by teammate Li Sujie with a time of 44:42.3.

Both broke the world 10,000-meter mark of 45:39.5 set by another Chinese, Yan Hong, at Copenhagen in 1984.
