Peace March Nears N.Y. After 7 Months
Several hundred people on a seven-month march for peace walked across northern New Jersey on Monday, hoping to be in New York City in four days and in the nation’s capital by next month, a spokesman said.
The Great Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament stopped in this Morris County town to spend the night after walking 22 miles from Anderson in Warren County, said Chris Ball, a spokesman for the march. The marchers are scheduled to cross the George Washington Bridge into New York City at 11 a.m. Thursday, he said.
The march began on March 11 in Los Angeles, and the marchers have camped at 171 sites in the last 3,370 miles, Ball said.
