Sex Education in the Schools

I certainly agree with Nathanson’s view of the Board of Education’s guidelines on sex education.

Premarital sex does not occur because we teach it in school. People do not become gay or lesbian because we teach it in school. Teen-age pregnancies do not occur because of what we teach in school.

However, some of the tragic aspects of these issues occur when the schools choose to ignore them instead of helping their students to cope with them.

Ignorance is not bliss. Knowledge can be.
