Airline Assails Denmark for Fines Over Refugees

COPENHAGEN —
The West German carrier Lufthansa criticized Denmark on Tuesday for its new practice of fining airlines for bringing refugees to the country.
“It is impossible for us to check each passenger thoroughly enough to avoid mistakes,” said Uwe Schafer, Lufthansa’s Copenhagen director. “In two days, Sunday and Monday, Lufthansa was fined $7,740.”
