$17.2 Million for AIDS Care
A private foundation announced today that it donated $17.2 million for the care of AIDS patients in the largest philanthropic effort on behalf of victims of the deadly disease.
Under the terms of the grant, 11 communities will receive funding to support programs of special care at home and in the hospital for people with acquired immune deficiency syndrome, officials from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation of Princeton, N.J., said. Foundation officials said at a news conference that New York City, which has the most AIDS patients in the country, will receive $2 million.
