Government’s Covert Actions

Share

This letter is one person’s reaction to all the outright lies we have been getting from our government lately. What is happening? What is our government doing that is so underhanded it cannot be honest with the American people?

The Libyan government program was supposedly set up to confuse Libya about whether we are going to attack them once again--here we have one high official, Secretary of State George P. Shultz, saying it’s OK to mislead an enemy this way and a second one, President Reagan, saying there was never any intention to misinform the American press. Wow! That seems very strange. Is Reagan kept so much in the dark he does not even know what his own State Department policies are, or is he lying to cover up an embarrassing discovery of the alarming direction our government is taking us?

Now we have the cargo plane shot down over Nicaragua. Everyone knows the CIA is involved in that dirty war against a nation that has done us no harm at all other than wanting sovereignty over its own form of government, so why the big denial about who is responsible for the cargo plane? Why all the lies? Has our government forgotten how to tell the truth?

Our nation has thrived for 200 years by keeping the lines of communication between its citizenry and government open and honest. We seem at present to be following in the footsteps of prewar Germany and Russia. Aren’t they the ones afraid to level with their people?
