Printronix Posts Net Loss of $1.3 Million

Printronix Inc. said it had a net loss of $1.3 million for its fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 26, compared to a net loss of $1 million for the same period a year ago.

The Irvine-based maker of computer printers said it is continuing to consolidate its operations and expects “slight improvement” in its results for the fiscal third quarter and further improvement in its fourth quarter.

Sales for the quarter were $32.1 million, compared to sales of $33 million for the same period last year.

For the six months, the company had a net income of $482,000 on revenue of $62.1 million, compared with a net loss of $2.4 million on revenue of $66.3 million a year ago. Earnings for the most recent six months include a gain from the sale of an option to purchase property.

The company will show a slight profit for the year, said David Radlinski, vice president of finance, compared to a net loss of $11.7 million for the fiscal year ended March 28, 1986.
