Prince Andrew Joins List of Potential Navy Service Lifers
Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth’s second son, has transferred to the Royal Navy’s “general list,” a move that normally means a navy man intends to spend the rest of his life in the service.
Prince Andrew, 26, who assumed the title of Duke of York at the time of his July wedding to Sarah Ferguson, has until now been a specialist helicopter pilot and flew combat missions in the 1982 Anglo-Argentine Falklands war.
His move was confirmed by Buckingham Palace.
Andrew, who joined the Navy in 1979 on a medium-term commission, is on an advanced helicopter pilot instructor course at Yeovilton, southwest England.
