A Sacramento firm said it is looking for a buyer--or new tenant--for Fricot City, a privately owned town in the Sierra Nevada foothills about 60 miles southeast of Sacramento. Price: $8.8 million. For that, the owners said, you get 650 acres of land, a motel, two gymnasiums, classrooms, two swimming pools, offices, dormitories, a dining hall, 20 homes, 11 old gold mines, a water plant, water source and sewage system. “Anything you could want for 500 people,” said Starr Enterprises attorney Lou Bardis. There are a few drawbacks, though: The state has ordered the owners to upgrade the sewage system (estimated cost, about $400,000) and some of the buildings need repairs. The place presently houses a unit of the California Conservation Corps, a state-run work program for young adults. But the CCC is moving out in December.
