Soviets to Continue Seeking Fishing Pacts

CANBERRA, Australia —
The Soviet Union will continue to seek fishing agreements with South Pacific island nations even though they signed a tuna agreement with the United States, a Soviet Embassy official said Tuesday.
Vladimir Valkov told reporters that Soviet moves in the South Pacific are dictated by commercial and not political considerations.
The United States signed the tuna deal, worth $60 million, last week.
