Tandem Computers of Cupertino, Calif., posted a 76% increase in per share earnings for the year ended Sept. 30 and a 23% rise in revenue over the prior fiscal year. The manufacturer of on-line transaction processing systems and computer networks said that a strong international business contributed. U.S. business grew as well, although the domestic environment remains relatively weak, a spokesman said. A significant factor was the response by customers to its new VLX system and the EXT/10 and EXT/25 systems, plus the expansion of the 6105 controller line, the firm added.
