Hussein Expresses Confidence in Iraq
From Reuters
AMMAN, Jordan —
King Hussein, saying he is confident the Iraqis will win their war with Iran, returned Wednesday from an overnight visit to Baghdad after what diplomats see as a new attempt to reconcile Iraq and Syria.
Hussein, while staunchly supporting Iraq, has been trying to patch up differences between Iraq and Syria, which backs non-Arab but Muslim Iran in the six-year-old war.
The official Iraqi News Agency said the king discussed bilateral issues with President Saddam Hussein and “the Arab situation in general.”
