U.S. Vessel Picks Up 63 Viet Refugees at Sea

BANGKOK, Thailand —
A U.S. vessel picked up 63 Vietnamese refugees at sea and all are guaranteed resettlement within 30 days under an international pact aimed at encouraging ships’ captains to rescue boat people, U.S. Embassy officials said today.
The refugees, aged between 1 and 43, were picked up in the South China Sea on Monday and arrived in Bangkok Wednesday on the cargo ship Sandy’s Bay.
