LaRouche Units Plead Innocent in Fraud Case
Five groups associated with Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr. pleaded not guilty Friday in U.S. District Court to charges that they were involved in a scheme to finance LaRouche’s presidential bids with $1 million in fraudulent credit card charges.
The Oct. 6 federal grand jury indictment that named the five political and fund-raising organizations also charged 10 LaRouche supporters who allegedly were connected with the scheme or helped cover it up.
Six of the 10 people pleaded not guilty at an Oct. 20 arraignment. The other four remain at large, said Judi Sanzo, clerk to U.S. Magistrate Robert B. Collings.
Entering not guilty pleas Friday before Collings were: Caucus Distributors Inc. and Campaigner Publications Inc., both identified as LaRouche fund-raising groups based in Leesburg, Va.; the LaRouche Campaign and Independent Democrats for LaRouche, political committees working for LaRouche’s 1984 presidential bid, and the National Caucus of Labor Committees, a coalition of LaRouche supporters.
The groups and the people indicted face a Dec. 1 trial.
