Ceradyne Reports 57% Increase in Net for Third Quarter

Ceradyne Inc. reported third-quarter net income of $526,000, up 57% from $334,000 for the comparable period a year earlier.
The Costa Mesa-based high-technology ceramics company said third-quarter sales totaled $5.1 million, up 6% from $4.8 million for the same period the prior year.
For the first nine months, the company reported net income of $1.1 million, nearly double the year-earlier total of $567,000. Nine-month sales totaled $13.7 million, up 16% from $11.8 million.
In addition to making ceramic components for the electronic and aerospace industries, Ceradyne is developing a ceramic automobile engine.
