The World : 2 Bombs Explode in Paris
Two bombs exploded minutes apart in Paris, ripping through the French immigration office and a charter airline involved in the recent expulsions of 101 Malians, authorities said. The blasts caused heavy damage but no injuries. The leftist Direct Action terror group claimed responsibility, saying it set off the bombs on behalf of the Malians, who were expelled Oct. 10 under a new law that gives police sweeping powers to deport undesirable immigrants without need of a court order. The Malians were forced to leave because they were either living in the country illegally or were suspected of drug trafficking. Direct Action has claimed responsibility for eight bombings in Paris and its suburbs this year.
