South Gate : Park Improvements Sought

Share

The city has applied for a $205,000 state grant for park and recreation improvements.

The money is provided to city, county and regional park districts through Proposition 43, a bond issue passed by voters in June, which provides $100 million to improve or restore parks and other recreational areas.

The city’s share is based on its population.

The city had until Dec. 12 to submit its proposals.

The city submitted three projects, including renovation of Hollydale Community Park and installation of a computerized information message board at South Gate Park. The projects will cost an estimated $70,000 each. The third project is the construction of two tennis courts at South Gate Park.

Funds will not be distributed before August, 1987.
