A Nicaraguan People’s Tribunal is considering a prosecution request for more time to present evidence against captured American flier Eugene Hasenfus, charged with terrorism and gun-running for U.S.-backed contras . The prosecution said it asked for the four-day extension so that investigators can further inspect the area where Hasenfus’ C-123 cargo plane crashed Oct. 5 after being shot down by Nicaraguan troops. Meanwhile, at a news conference, former U.S. Atty. Gen. Griffin Bell said that Sally Hasenfus, the flier’s wife, has submitted a written plea for compassion to the court.
