GENERAL MOTORS’ PLANT CLOSURES

On Thursday, the company announced plans to close 11 plants and lay off about 29,000 employees. Here is a summary of those moves:
6,600 workers at the Fleetwood and Clark body and assembly plants in Detroit. Products: Cadillac Brougham, Chevrolet Caprice and Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser station wagons.
4,500 workers at the Flint and Pontiac, Mich., body and assembly plants. Products: Buick Regal, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
4,000 workers at the Chevrolet-Pontiac plant in Norwood,Ohio. Products: Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird.
2,200 workers at GM truck and bus plant in St. Louis. Product: light trucks.
2,900 workers at the BOC-Chicago manufacturing plant in Willow Springs, Ill. Products: body panels for luxury, regular and mid-size cars.
2,500 workers at the CPC-Hamilton/Fairfield stamping plant in Hamilton, Ohio. Products: Firebird, Camaro and mid-size cars.
700 workers at BOC-Conner stamping plant in Detroit. Products: body panels for Cadillac Brougham and Chevrolet Caprice.
2,200 workers affected by partial closing at Pontiac central plant in Pontiac, Mich. Products: heavy-duty trucks and transit buses.
3,450 affected by partial closing at truck and bus plant No. 1 in Flint, Mich. Products: full-size Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks.
