Coasters Founder Nunn Dies

Bobby Nunn, founder of the wisecracking doo-wop group The Coasters and the original Charlie Brown whose resonant voice boomed, “Why’s everybody always pickin’ on me?” has died at 61, the group said today.

Nunn, who performed with The Coasters on Saturday in Phoenix and appeared in good health, died at his Los Angeles home Wednesday night of a massive heart attack, said Coasters singer Tony Ruiz. Nunn began his career in the Los Angeles vocal quartet The Robins before founding The Coasters, whose hit songs such as “Poison Ivy,” “Yakety Yak,” “Love Potion No. 9” and “Charlie Brown” permeated the 1950s airwaves.
