Landmark Status for House

A group called Friends of the Gussie Moran House will appear before the Landmark Commission today to request landmark status for the 19th-Century Victorian house at 1323 Ocean Ave., according to Julie Lopez Dad of the friends organization.

The former home of 1950s tennis star Gussie Moran was built between 1887 and 1891.

A city-sponsored survey a few years ago found that the home has enough architectural and historic significance to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
