Justice Bird’s Losing Campaign

Share

Zimmerman’s apologia for political consultants in general and his firm in particular verges on nausea. His arrogance or deprecation in justifying Bird’s defeat on her own peculiar temperament, on the schools and the press as being inept at producing a “quality” electorate, and on his firm being rejected or vice versa is pitiful.

His disdain of the public and its institutions, his faint praise of the candidate, a la Mark Anthony, and his underlying plea for jobs for political consultants is mostly humbug.

Perhaps people don’t vote because they are fed up with the kinds of campaigns dished up by professional consultants. Bird may have simply lost this election because of her own personal views on the death penalty. She at least has maintained her integrity, which is more than one can say about many people involved in politics.

Winning is not the only thing in life. Political consultants need to realize this as most of the uninformed, illiterate hoi polloi of this state figured out in grade school.
