Justice Bird’s Losing Campaign

Share

Thanks to Bill Zimmerman for a most illuminating and revealing study of Rose Bird via her campaign to retain her seat on the Supreme Court.

He illustrates very well the arrogance and stubbornness that led her to overturn 57 death penalties, as though 57 judges and juries were always wrong, and she was right every time.

Any twinge of conscience I may have had for voting against Rose Bird, who is a person of character and integrity, are now stilled.

I don’t feel that we are trying to muzzle our judges, but when a single judge in a high position differs continually from his peers, we need to rally to the defense of the majority. Isn’t that the democratic rule?
