Demonstrators attacked officers guarding Greek government buildings during a march on the U.S. Embassy in Athens, injuring four officers, two of them seriously, police said. Most of about 100,000 demonstrators dispersed peacefully after the march commemorating a student uprising 13 years ago, but about 1,500 of the marchers attacked guards along the route and stole four police revolvers, police said. Scores of students were killed in the 1973 uprising against the military regime then ruling Greece. The protesters marched on the U.S. Embassy because, they said, Washington was “morally responsible” for military rule.
