A record 152,167 students are attending classes this fall at the University of California’s nine campuses, 4,120 more than last year, according to figures compiled by the Office of the President. It was the sixth straight year that student enrollment has reached a record level. Undergraduate enrollment increased about 3.1%, from 108,741 students in 1985 to 112,113 this fall--an increase of 3,372 students. Graduate enrollment showed the biggest increase, up 3.7%, with 27,817 graduate students compared to 26,806 last year. Three campuses, Berkeley, Davis and San Francisco, showed slight declines because of an effort to keep admissions at a level that facilities and staffing can accommodate, said Ed Apodaca, admissions director. Campuses showing the biggest increases this year of entering students were Irvine, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz.
