The Hughes Tool subsidiary’s move is part of the company’s ongoing consolidation program, said Barry Kaufman, Vetco Gray’s vice president for Western Hemisphere operations. The oil field supply company said that no closing date has been set and that some of the 359 employees currently based in Ventura will be transferred to other locations. The company will retain its Ventura Tool division, which offers equipment repair and reconditioning. “This action is the direct result of the continuing downturn in the oil and gas industry,” Kaufman said.
