SINGAPORE — Israeli President Chaim Herzog arrived in Singapore on Tuesday and Muslims demonstrated in Malaysia for a second day to protest Singapore’s decision to meet with the Jewish leader.
Herzog arrived for a two-day stay and met with President Wee Kim Wee for one hour under heavy security to discuss Middle East and Southeast Asian issues, a Singapore official said. The two also reportedly discussed trade issues.
Officials in Malaysia and Indonesia, both predominantly Muslim countries, had asked Singapore to cancel the visit by the Israeli president.
