A jury in Watertown, N.Y., convicted a teen-ager of second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old friend while playing the fantasy game Dungeons and Dragons. Prosecutors said David K. Ventiquattro, 16, apparently got caught up in the game and killed Martin I. Howland in 1985 because the boy “had become evil.” State police investigator Robert J. Semione testified, “He said he was an employer in the Dungeons and Dragons game, that Martin had become evil, and he was going to extinguish people.” He faces 15 years to life in prison.
